Updates On Miky

This is the current situation with Miky in Romania. My thanks to all the generous people who have helped out with donations thus far. Here is a copy of an email I received yesterday in regard to her condition.

Hi Art;
Just spoke with Cristina on the phone. She is on her way back from Bucharest with Nelu and Oti. They had a chance to visit with Miky and a team of physicians that are keeping her alive.
It appears that the culprit is a very severe case of bacterial infection (sepsis infection) of the blood. They are administering her a drug (xigris). I've googled it and pretty much falls in line with her status as described by the physicians, in other words, it is administered to patients with severe case ofsepsis, in life or death situations. Miky's condition apparently outweighs the severe side affects of the drug as I understand.
She is in an induced coma, six of her organs have been desumated by the bacteria and she is on life support. The doctors give her a 2% chance for survival, and she could pass away today, tomorrow or maybe weeks. Right now this drug is holding it's ground I think, and life support took over all her vital functions. The doctors are testing her blood for improvement. Apparently the doctors do not have an answer as to what caused the sepsis infection. Unfortunately, I have been unable to travel with them to see Miky.

It is a very sad situation Art, but at this point I am not sure how we can help. Apparently this hospital is top ranked in this department and have the resources for intervening in the worst cases such as Miky's.

Lets all pray for her subconscious fighting it while the sepsis infection goes away, blood and organ treatment refined and recovery begins.

A Chance to Make A Difference

Martial Arts people are some of the most generous people I know. That is why I am doing this blog post. Please read this article below and follow the links provided. It is your chance to make a difference.

Hello Everyone,

If you look to the right of this article you will find a donation button to help a good friend of mine in Romania with medical expenses. I met this lady about 6 months ago and she helped me to travel to her country to introduce the art of Kyusho Jitsu to martial artists there.

Approximately one week ago from the date of this article she took ill with a serious liver condition. Her life is currently in danger, however the situation is improving. I arranged on Wednesday of this week for a helicopter airlift to Bucharest to save her life. Without this she had no chance for survival. However the problems still exist. The medical system in Romania is very poor and very expense. The economy in the country is in ruins.

Currently I am fund raising and taking donation to help the family with these expenses. Any and all donations are welcome and ALL the money is sent directly to the family. If you would like to help please use the donation button to the right of this article. All donors will have their name added to a card for Miky which Master Art will personally deliver to her when he returns by request of her family as soon as she regains consciousness.

Thank you for your generosity in this matter! Please see UPDATES below.

Sunday July 18th 2010 As of this writing Miky is in stable, but serious condition in Bucharest. She is currently on a machine which is cleaning her blood since her liver is all but shut down. This is LIVER DIALYSIS which will help to regenerate the liver. The cost of this procedure is 3500 euro which is NOT covered by insurances. Please follow the link provided for more information.

To donate to this cause please follow this LINK.

Also note 100% of all Kyusho DVD and eBook sales will go to this cause.

Kevin Miller our St Clair Beach teacher is well known for his dislike of snakes. This year thanks to several of his student he overcame this fear and now has a pet snake shown here.

Too bad it's rubber, but who knows what is next!

Changes to the way the news is delivered

By now everyone should have received an email from our system asking you to opt in for our Newsletter. The current way in which our newsletter is delivered has cause us some grief. Therefore I have upgraded all the servers and lists (PWnew - Kyusho etc). This requires that everyone re-verify that they wish to receive these mailing. This is Canadian and US spam law, so there is really no way around it.

This newsletter will be the last sent out under this older system Effective Saturday August 1st 2009 the new system kicks in. If you confirmed you subscription, you are all set. If you did not, then you need to follow this link to resubscribe. If you no longer wish to receive these mailings you need do nothing.

This concludes our August 2009 newsletter. See you all in September!

Harmonized Sales Tax

In July 2010 our Provincial Government is planning on harmonizing the PST and GST into one tax. I don't normally ever use this forum to discuss political matters however this ONE TAX is going to cost us, the citizens of Ontario BIG TIME. What does this mean to our students? A tuition increase across the board for everyone. Currently 5% GST is charged on all tuitions paid by students. This will increase to 13% because of this new tax. As a school we will have no choice but to charge it.

I encourage everyone to contact their MPP and remind them that they work for us and that this tax is not acceptable.

Novice Kyusho Certification this Fall

This September we will be holding another Novice Kyusho Certification Course at our Windsor School. This course is for adult students (those attending adult classes) to learn and obtain a Black Belt in the pressure point art Kyusho Jitsu. Exact requirement for the course can be obtained from your instructor or from our Student Website. There are 12 sessions to the course which runs 1 year in length. Sessions are scheduled 1 year in advance and are approximately 3 hours long. This Falls certification will start on Saturday September 19th. Class will start at 3:00pm. There are only 12 spots available so register today. Your next opportunity will not be until Fall 2010.

School Shutdown - Vacations

Our school will be shutdown the from Saturday July 4th to Monday July 13th for vacations. Our instructors work very hard all year round providing the best possible classes and learning environment for our students. With this in mind we are going to use a shutdown for one week to provide this much needed relief time. Student who wish to makeup missed classes are welcome to do so. See your instructor for scheduling details.

New Schedule in Windsor

There is a new schedule for the Windsor Main School available from our student website. These are minor changes and will not affect any junior student. The new schedule can be download here.

Changes in Life.

Master Scott Mason will be taking a sabbatical from teaching martial arts. His tremendous contribution to our school cannot be overemphasized. Through the last 9 years he has show what it means to be a true master of the arts. He is going to be perusing other interests for the time, including his education in college. His presence on the floor will be missed while he is gone. We all look forward to the time when he will return to teaching.

This concludes our newsletter for July 2009. See you next month!
